Deadpanist
A remarkable follow-up to Black Earth. SBTS exits the Neurosis influence of earlier releases and adds more Brotzmann Massaker-early SWANS-Godflesh sonorities. The mix sounds absolutely fantastic. Whatever drive the guitars have, it sounds heavy yet clear, the bass and drums bulldozing their way through. If you like crushing, monolithic, bludgeoning mid-tempo apocalyptic tunes, this is a no-brainer. These fine folks get it. 2022 AOTY as far as I'm concerned.

This is their most astonishing album,in terms of mellowing, they have not. This has the anger and frustration of Hymns by Godflesh.I do not mean to do this album a disservice by comparing to another, but that album came into my mind, initially, before being gathered up and swallowed by this records sheer passion!
Obstacle of Affliction
This is the perfect soundtrack for when you are secluded in some candle lit room and flogging yourself.
Punishing yet cathartic.
I mean who hasn't turned off all the lights, lit some candles, and just whip the shit out of themselves?
...anyone?
Darknight

What the media have been saying about 'SLAVES BENEATH THE SUN'
"You have to look deep within yourself to see your true interests and people knowing when to pick up and move towards where you belong. One piece of work isn’t inherently better than the other, but this is a piece I can jump into any day. For me personally, there’s beauty In Slaves Beneath The Sun that I could never find in a mandolin cocooned in fiddles."
Richard Murray / Sleeping Shaman

"Process of Guilt are the ideal singers of the discomfort of modern man, and in doing so they appear more integral and credible than many more celebrated realities among those stylistically contiguous."
Stefano / MOURNFUL SOUNDS

"the monochrome artwork reflects the tone of the album; there’s minimal vibrancy or colour to be found in the bleakly atmospheric builds, the grim, lightly dissonant riffs and the harsh, yet impressively tonal, vocals."
Musclassia / METAL STORM

"Those who love these hopeless sounds will immediately understand what this record is made of, a remarkable example of damned and beautiful music. We move through icy waves, flames coming out of nowhere, in a musical magma with perfect spines, for a work that is a candidate for album of the year, confirming the great releases that Alma Mater Records is putting together."

"(...) listening to "Slaves...," one gets the impression that each episode has been more finely chiseled with the passion and attention of the best craftsmen, where the reworking of the teachings of the masters is perfectly matched with smoothness in listening and a clearer expressive simplicity. Pieces like "Scars" and "Breathe" show how Process Of Guilt are now flat-out masters of this post/sludge style with a dry, raw and peremptory foundation, where quotations often give way to a heartfelt interpretation with evocative solid power (...)"

"It is safe to say that PROCESSOFGUILT (...) have, by now in their career, reached a level of maturity that is usually reserved for the leading bands, artistically speaking, in their stylistic fields, operate within the parameters they themselves have created, and are already, as far as possible, above any faux-pas that "lesser" groups may face."
José Carlos Santos / LOUD! Magazine

"On their 5th album, PROCESSOFGUILT bring together the overwhelming power of "FÆMIN" with the best conclusions of the paradigms they explored on "Black Earth". In this way, "Slaves Beneath The Sun" is the quartet's new discographic pinnacle."

Having perfected a distinctive musical expression, Process of Guilt are one of the main driving forces on the Portuguese
underground. Delivering massively heavy riffs on top of a precise quasi-industrial rhythm section, they possess a unique intensity that attracts listeners from a broad spectrum of music genres. Their live performances are pure displays of ferocity that leave no one indifferent....more

one of the best death doom bands so far. great melodies with great atmospheres. mostly slow, heavy and doomy but sometimes there are these groovy double-bass drum moments wich are pretty fucking cool. if you like death doom and melodic atmospheric black metal, this is for you. Sælzer Bub

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
